Were you always planning to be an attorney and why?

I have consistently championed the rights of those who are often unheard. My extensive experience in assisting clients with their legal challenges has reinforced my belief that my dedication to advocacy can be transformed into a fulfilling and impactful professional journey.

When meeting with clients do they mostly come to your own premises or do you mostly go their theirs?

My clients come to my office, I engage with clients at their offices when formally invited to do so. This practice not only facilitates a conducive environment for discussion but also demonstrates my commitment to fostering collaborative relationships.

What is your preferred mode of communication with your clients?

Email, Phone, Face to Face

Have you ever done an online video call with a client?

Yes

What do you love most about law and being an attorney?

The ability to advocate for justice. There's a profound sense of fulfillment in representing clients, helping them navigate complex legal issues, and ensuring their voices are heard.

Would you recommend becoming an attorney as a career for school-leavers, and why?

I would recommend becoming an attorney as a career to school leavers, but with some caveats. Practicing law is challenging, and requires a significant investment of time and money. It's a commitment that requires strong analytical skills, resilience, and a willingness to engage with complex issues.

What qualities should South Africans be looking for in their attorney?

An effective attorney should communicate clearly and regularly. They should be able to explain legal concepts in a way that you understand and keep you updated about the progress of your case. Be professional and dedicated to the client's case.

In your view, what are the major problems and/or opportunities facing the legal profession?

The rise of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, poses a threat to certain facets of law, especially those that involve routine tasks such as legal research.

What fields of law do you, as an attorney, monthly focus on?

Corporate and Commercial law, Litigation, Law of Contract, Motor Vehicle Accidents and Financial Recovery.

From your experience, if you could cite one of the biggest reasons South Africans need advice from an attorney, what would that be?

Navigating the complexities of law is not easy to the legally untrained. Many individuals and businesses face legal challenges on daily basis. An attorney can provide essential guidance to ensure compliance with legal requirements and assert clients' rights.

Do you think the coming wave of automation in the next few years will steal some legal jobs and why/why not?

No amount of technology or automation will replace the human factor presented by legal professionals.

Describe your average client

My typical client is looking for guidance and support to navigate complex legal situations. Many clients are proactive and engaged, wanting to understand their options and the implications of their decisions.

How far away from your premises is your furthest client?

No amount of technology or automation will replace the human factor presented by legal professionals.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Reading and keeping my mind sharp.

What is the most interesting thing on your bucket list?

To travel the world, and immerse myself in the unique cultures and natural wonders of the globe.
